Essential Duties

  • Recruit schools and organizations to participate in STEAM van program and ensure that activities and collaboration opportunities are clearly communicated;

  • Coordinate all scheduling and logistics of the van for partnership with all schools and community organizations;

  • Drive van to and set up/breakdown all events;

  • Implement and oversee all activities being offered while on site;

  • Work with the Curriculum team to continuously develop engaging activities;

  • Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with partner/community sites and MAF staff;

  • Purchase, prepare, maintain and manage all of the curriculum and activity supplies and inventory;

  • Maintain project forms, keep accurate records of all site visits including date, time, number of participants, activities completed, etc.;

  • Work with the program manager to gather data to complete required reports.

Other Duties

Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to:

  • Produce web posts about the program;

  • Maintain the van and equipment.

Work Hours

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm or otherwise determined by the supervisor;

  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance;

  • Some nights and weekends may be required.

Working Conditions

  • Office setting;

  • Work outdoors at schools and/or community sites where the activity is scheduled

  • Travel in STEAM van to and from project sites, with possible overnight stays;

  • Must have personal transportation to and from the van storage location;

  • Travel to neighbor islands for extended stays as needed

Equipment Use

Personal vehicle, Ford Transit cargo van, computer and/or laptop, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, office and/or work cell phone/Bluetooth, camera.

Mental, Physical and Communication Demands

Mental:

  • Consistent adherence to the practice of MAF’s core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs;

  • Must be able to analyze and problem solve;

  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize;

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills

Physical:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis;

  • Must be able to set up and break down 6ft tables, 10x10 tents and chairs

Communication:

  • Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program staff administration, and program partners via verbal, written, physical, and

    electronic correspondence; Must possess strong communication skills; Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Math, Hawaiian Studies, Education or equivalent;

  • Minimum of at least one (1) year of experience in student or professional teaching preferably in Math and/or Science at the intermediate school and pre algebra level;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Windows operating systems;

  • Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily injury liability per person and $25K in property damage liability.

Preferred:

  • An understanding of Native Hawaiian culture;

  • Commercial Driver Licensing license.
